News of 2016


  • December 14th, 2016: Heidi will be presenting her work on longitudinal associations between tau pathology, white matter changes and memory at the Human Amyloid Imaging Conference (Miami, USA) on Thursday January 12, 2017.
    This work is in collaboration with Prof. Keith Johnson and Prof. Reisa Sperling (Boston, USA).
  • November 30th, 2016: Nikos presented our exciting new 7 Tesla MRI method to visualize the locus coeruleus in vivo during the Annual Research day of the School for Mental Health and Neuroscience of Maastricht University In collaboration with Dr. Benedikt Poser, Dr. Dimo Ivanov and Dr. Kamil Uludag of the faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience
  • August 10th, 2016: Whitney's work examining the interplay between ​white matter hyper intensities and amyloid pathology on hippocampal volume in non-demented and demented patients of the LeARN cohort (The Netherlands) has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Alzheimer's disease!! Congratulations Whitney, great work!!
  • July 23-28th, 2016: Heidi will be presenting her work on the association between structural connectivity, tau pathology and cognition at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference (Toronto, Canada) on Tuesday July 26th during the oral session on connectivity (4:15 pm). She will also present her work during the Alzheimer's Imaging Consortium Preconference on Saturday July 23rd. Look forward to see you there! This work has been done in collaboration with Prof. Keith Johnson and Prof. Reisa Sperling (Boston, USA).  This is supported by a Travel Scholarship of the AAIC and a fellowship of Alzheimer Nederland!
  • April 21st, 2016: Kim Dillen's work on retrosplenial versus posterior cingulate cortex functional connectivity in early Alzheimer's disease (and neuropsychological differentiation) has been accepted for publication in Neurobiology of Aging!

  • April 14th, 2016: Heidi will present the work of her group at the "State of the art dementia research" symposium in honor of the 15th birthday of the Alzheimer Centre Limburg and the 30th birthday of the Ambulatory Memory Clinic of the Maastricht University Medical Centre..   • April 12th, 2016: Heidi's work on the role of the brainstem (in particular the locus coeruleus)  in Alzheimer's disease was features in the local newspaper in Maastricht, Limburg: in "Dagblad de Limburger". Funding by the University Fund Limburg played an important ​part in this.

  • ​March 21st, 2016: Heidi has been awarded a global fellowship by the Marie Curie Sklodowska Actions (EU under H2020), to work with Prof. Keith Johnson and Reisa Sperling at MGH / Athinoula A. Martinos Centre for Biomedical Imaging (Harvard University) in Boston (USA).
  • January 14th, 2016: Heidi will give an oral presentation at the Human Amyloid Imaging Conference in Miami (USA) on the impact of amyloid and tau pathology on the association between  specific hippocampal subfield volumes and memory. This work has been done in collaboration with Prof. Keith Johnson and Prof. Reisa Sperling (Boston, USA).
